I’m a visitor and need a doctor
EU citizens with a European Health Insurance Card are treated in the public system (CAP Sitges). Visitors from outside the EU should use their travel insurance at a private clinic. If unsure how serious it is, call 061.
Heatstroke on the beach
Move the person into the shade, loosen their clothing, cool them with water and offer fluids if they are conscious. If they are confused, not sweating or lose consciousness: call 112 immediately.
Jellyfish sting
Get out of the water and tell the lifeguard. Rinse with seawater (not fresh water), do not rub or scratch, and apply something cold wrapped in a cloth. If there is difficulty breathing or a strong reaction, call 112.
I need medicine at night
Check today’s duty pharmacy. Bring your prescription or medical report; if you are from outside Catalonia, ask the pharmacy whether your prescription can be dispensed.
A child falls ill out of hours
CAP Sitges is open every day from 8 am to 8 pm. Outside those hours, call 061 for advice or go to the 24-hour paediatric A&E at Hospital Sant Camil. Call 112 if the child is struggling to breathe, has a seizure, is very drowsy or is a baby under 3 months with a fever.
Dental emergency
For severe pain, call 061 for advice or book a visit at the CAP. If there is a blow to the face, bleeding that will not stop or swelling with fever, go to hospital A&E. Some private dental clinics in the directory see emergencies: check by phone first.
